It’s all GREEK to me~

last night I decided I wanted greek today. Well, actually Meep got to choose between roast lamb or lamb souvlaki. Of course he picked meat on stick.

So I went online and did my research on what kind of ingredients made up the dishes. Everything that I wanted to make had olive oil, lemon, oregano and garlic! LOL I should have known but it was nice to get confirmation. All the recipes were more or less the same with different variations of quantity. So I just eye balled everything.

For our appetiser, I made some hummus. I did not want the regular hummus so I did Sugarbowl’s rendition. Added kidney bean and roasted red bell peppers and cumin topped off with some paprika~ *yummm*

The kidney beans and red bell peppers make it a nice reddish colour instead of normal yellow.

For the main course… Lamb and chicken souvlaki served with baby potatoes, greek salad and tzatziki.

Greek salad is one of my all time favourite salad. I even picked up some feta cheese at “the market” today! Cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions tossed in oregano, white wine vinegar, olive oil, salt n pepper and feta cheese. Everyone makes it a lil diff, most recipes online would suggest red wine vinegar or lemon juice. I like the taste of my version. =)

The potatoes were tossed in olive oil, dried oregano, lemon, salt & pepper then roasted in the oven for about 25 mins~

The tzatziki is an adaptation of Whitespot style tzatziki (but no sour cream n adding dill). Adding onions and also leaving the cucumber n onion a lil chunky. I did not have sour cream but it turned out pretty good~ had to strain the yoghurt so it is thicker n not watery~

Marinated the meat and chicken for over 4 hours in lemon, garlic, oregano, thyme (chix only), olive oil, salt n pepper~ stick them on skewers!

Instead of blogging this into regular housewife’s tale, It was such a complete meal (except for dessert) that I just HAD to post this. Nummmyyyyyy..

Now i just need to learn how to make some Spanakopita, pita and some type of greek dessert~
