A Housewife’s Tale episode 123

First week of 2012! After all the excessive eating in the last two weeks of 2011, I was determine to eat lighter or healthier… but failed miserably. I did manage to squeeze in a couple salads for lunches at work but not so much for dinner. *tear* Instead of a long rant about how I need to lose some weight (don’t we all?), lets get to the menu recap!

.

Sunday – Finally a homecooked meal! I have been telling Meep how I was sick of eating out and not having the time to prepare a proper home cooked meal! Made some chicken soup with tofu & mushrooms, some veggies and leftover braised pork belly~ I usually use Napa Cabbage for this soup but decided to try it with some regular Cabbage and it was actually better!!!

.

.

Monday – Meep is still off from work for the past ten days!! We went out for Pho since it has been a while since we last went out for Vietnamese~

.

.

Tuesday – I had to go to a IRS Update thing, which is mandatory for all volunteer tax preparers so I didn’t even get home till past 8 pm. Meep picked me up straight from work since I was only a minute away from him and we went and got him some burgers for dinner after~

.

Wednesday – Had a work meeting that ran for a couple hours long and then the manager bought us all lunch at a Sushi restaurant~ Pretty awesome especially since I was not scheduled to work after so I got home by 1 pm and the weather was beautiful! I decided to grilled a couple steaks since I had the time in my hands. Marinated the eggplant in Miso and threw it on the grill as well. The steak was marinated in Galbi marinade.

.

.

Thursday – Instant noodles with sausages, mushrooms and egg for dinner! (Yes I am getting lazy but it is hard to spend an hour preparing dinner after work).

.

.

Friday – I had some frozen leftover chicken rice in the freezer that I defrosted and steamed a few chicken legs for dinner.

.

Saturday – Dinner at Sons & Daughters in SF to celebrate SK’s birthday (belated dinner). The dinner was pretty good and the best part of our meal were the breads! They have one kick ass pastry chef~ Thanks SK for the excellent dinner!!! Favourites of the night were:

Abalone!!!

First 7 days of 2012 was good~ Nothing exciting but ended with an awesome dinner so no complaints from this pseudo housewife. Till next week!
