Choi’s Kitchen (Revisited) – Santa Clara, CA

Meep and I met up w Mr. N & his wifey for dinner. I suggested Choi’s kitchen since our last visit back in Feb w S & A was pretty good. I have to say, this time around Choi’s did not disappoint. ^o^

The place was PACKED! We got our table after a 25 minutes wait; and the place remained packed till the time we left at about 9.30pm. We have been here in the middle of the week and weekend; both times, the place was packed – always a good sign in my books.

.

Started off with an array of panchans.

I love that they always give a good selection of side dishes AND one of them is japchae. You can pay $7.99 for the full order but they do refill these side dishes (if needed). We usually only eat a round of them because I like ordering a good array of main dishes.

.

Kalbi -$14.99

Like the first trip, the kalbi was pretty good. :)

.

Haemul Soondobu (Seafood tofu stew) – $8.99

We tried the pork soondobu the first time, and this time we ordered the seafood. I preferred the seafood soondobu because it seemed to have way more flavour. Mr N. noticed there was grit and bits of broken shell from the clams but overall, we all thought it was delicious.

.

Haemul Dolsot Bibimbap (Seafood bibimbap in stone bowl) – $12.99

I was not a big fan of the seafood bibimbap. The seafood bits were just way too chewy and it was hard to figure out what I was chewing.

.

Kalbi Tang – $11.99

The meat in this soup was soooo tender and melt in your mouth delicious. The soup consists some beef, onion, vermicelli, egg and green onions. The meat had just the right amount of fat on it. I just wished it had more pieces of meat. The soup was very “meaty”, from the long process of boiling the bones. It was not as good as the kalbi tang I have had, and a little too peppery but pretty good.

Overall personal rating – (after 2 visits) 3.5 out of 5 (Pretty Darn Good)

Very good value for money and pretty tasty korean.
