A Housewife’s Tale episode 82

This is one looong post. Not because this housewife has been cooking up a storm but because she has been eating up a storm in New York City!!!

.

Sunday – I bought some pandan leaves a few weeks ago – and they were starting to look a little iffy. So I decided to use them for some Nasi Lemak, which is perfect since I had chicken marinated in the fridge for fried chicken.

.

.

Monday – A crazy week of eating all over New York City began the moment I got off the plane & checked in our hotel. Cath and I had dinner reservations for 3 of our 4 nights in NYC. We began our gastronomic journey with Momofuku’s Ma Peche.

Our favourites were:

12 oz steak with rice fries

Sunchokes with beef tongue

.

.

Tuesday – We started with a downtown tour of NYC then made a stop at Chinatown for some dim sum at Jing Fong.

Favourites are:

.

For dinner, we ate at Le Bernardin (the one restaurant I was most excited about). I was a little disappointed that Eric Ripert was not in that evening but it was still a great meal~

We had the 7 course & 8 course dinner and here is a preview for the full post to come.

.

.

Wednesday – We woke up early to catch the 2 hour cruise around the Hudson and Statue of Liberty. After that, we were starving and burgers from Shake Shack seemed appropriate!

For dinner, we ate at Ippudo in East Village. It started hailing and was freezing cold. I was glad to sit down and slurp up a huge bowl of ramen!

We picked up some Momofuku Pork buns from the Saam Bar on the way back to the hotel.

.

.

Thursday – we had dinner at Marea~ We both decided on the 4 course menu and this is me with the best dish of the night. Giant slab of beef steak. Cath took pictures of the meal, so I have to wait for those pics to do a full review on Marea.

I could not decide on which dessert I want, and the server ended up giving me 2 desserts complimentary! What a sweetheart~

.

.

Friday – Cath & I could not stop thinking bout the Combination rice plate we got off the food cart couple nights ago so we had this for breakfast!!

.

Our last meal in NYC was lunch at Jean Georges. Meep & I decided this was a perfect engagement gift for Cath and I was glad she enjoyed the meal (and experience) as well~

.

.

Saturday – Went out for some Crawdaddy w SK & A. They are moving to SF soon and prolly won’t be having dinner w us as frequently (since it would be a good 40 minute drive!). So we are going to start hitting up all their San Jose favourites!

2 lbs of shrimp and 2 lbs of crawfish later….

.

I can’t wait for next week! I think I will be cooking again and this housewife is car shopping!!!!
