Los Gatos Cafe – Los Gatos, CA

Took my sis in law and K here for brunch since I wanted to take them around South Bay. I meant to head over to the quaint downtown location but ended up writing the wrong address. So here we are!

The restaurant was big and pretty busy for 2 pm on a Friday.

Menu is the same in both locations, with a good range of breakfast basics, omelets, benedicts, french toasts, sandwiches, burgers, salads and more…

.

We ordered:

Cinnamon Roll French Toast $7.95

My jaw dropped when this was placed in front of me. It almost seemed like half a loaf of bread was used to make this french toast. I wish it tasted as good as it looked. One side was way over done and burnt so it got rock hard and not very appealing. The bread was dry which is rare for french toast. I didn’t enjoy it at all.

.

Side of Chicken Apple Sausage $4.95

The sausage was very good. A nice snap from the casing and juicy centre. The price tag was a little steep for one sausage.

.

Side of Italian Sausage $4.50 & Avocado $1.50

The sausage was dry and quite disappointing to get a measly piece for $4.50. Not worth the price

.

California Fresh Fruit  Salad with Frozen Yoghurt $9.95

We all gasped the moment this hit the table. It was massive! Not fit for one, definitely meant to be shared between 2-4 people! The fruits were good, some looked a little suspect from being pre cut and probably sitting in their cooler. But good for the most part. The frozen yoghurt was creamy, a little sweeter than expected and tasted more like ice cream.

.

Homemade Carrot Walnut Bread & Cookie

This is served with the fruit salad. The carrot bread was moist, dense and just plain delicious! The cookie came to the table looking like someone took a bite out of it, which was quite strange but it tasted good~

.

Extras:

Blueberry Strawberry Yoghurt Smoothie $3.95

This smoothie was great! It is huge and could be a meal on its own. It was slightly sweet, tangy and creamy. The yoghurt they used was just delicious. I could have been fooled into believing this was a milkshake!

2 Coffees @ $2 each

.

.

Total Damage: $48 (including tax & tip)

Personal rating: 2.75 out of 5 (Pretty average)

Food was ok, reasonably priced and huge portions. Coffee was blah… I wish they would start serving better coffee.

The service is great; shortly after we sat down, a server asked if we needed coffees and went to get some. Seconds after, another server walked past and notice we had no coffee cups and asked if we needed coffees! They were attentive and consistently checked back on the tables, refilled coffees and cleared dishes.

I preferred the downtown location a little more but appreciated not having to wait over 1/2 hour for a table at this less popular location. Their menu is exactly the same and maybe it was the items we ordered but I did not enjoymy breakfast as much here. I guess I got to give it another try sometime soon!
